CBRD Publishing is the name under which I (C. Britt) publish my own books. What can I say? It just sounds cooler to have a publishing name than to list my own name as the publisher. 😄
Generally, my stories belong in the fantasy, horror, and science fiction genres.
My books are available through Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Walmart, and more at this link: https://books2read.com/MonstraInter
Signed copies available here: https://cbrdpublishing.square.site/
Also, if you would like to read one of my books for FREE, please check with your local library. Many libraries will allow you to request books that they don't currently have in stock. In addition, many library apps will even allow you to request books from the comfort of your own home by logging into the app and putting in a request for the ebook.
My social media information is available here: https://linktr.ee/cbritt
If you've been following me (C. Britt) for any length of time, you may have heard of Runaway Daydreams. That is the website I share with three of my family members who are also authors!
D.L. Golden is my brother. He's the author of Origins : The Dreamcatcher Series, Book One.
S.F. Rogers is my sister. She's the author of Execration of Autumn.
J.C Brice is my sister-in-law. She's the author of The Architecture of Anarchy.
If you're interested in keeping up with any of us, check out our shared site, Runaway Daydreams where you can find links to our social medias.
Our Runaway Daydreams newsletter has been retired. We were on the fence about having one in the first place, and we never really got traction with it. Since it was just another thing that we had to juggle on top of our already busy lives, we decided it wasn't worth continuing.
If you'd like to know when I release new books, please follow me on social media or on my Amazon author page. And of course, you can always come back and check this site too.
AI is a large umbrella, and I don’t think all uses of AI should be treated the same. When we’re talking about something like writing, there’s assistive AI and there’s generative AI.
Assistive AI (e.g. spell check) has been around for ages. I always have (and likely always will) use spell check and similar tools to help catch minor errors. Assistive AI are simple tools that I think are essential.
Generative AI has a lot of questions around it. Is it detrimental to the environment? Does gen. AI get trained on work that was stolen from writers and other creatives? Is my work copyrightable if gen. AI is used? These are all valid and important concerns when it comes to using gen. AI.
But even if I could be 100% assured that all my concerns are overblown, I still wouldn’t use generative AI in my writing. I enjoy daydreaming. I love coming up with complex scenarios for my characters and writing them into corners where I have to figure a way out. I thrive on bringing my wild imaginings to life by putting words to paper. I may joke on occasion that writing is hard or say I don’t want to do it, but at the end of the day, I wouldn’t be doing this whole writing thing if I didn’t thoroughly enjoy it.
When it comes to things like artwork, I do my best to stick with pieces that are entirely human made without the use of gen. AI. But I’m not perfect at spotting it. I have been duped by AI art on occasion. That doesn’t mean that I want AI art; it doesn’t mean I don’t want to support human artists. It just means that I made a mistake.
So if you see any of those so-called “tells” in my writing—like this very em-dash, or the word “delve” or whatever other supposed proof of generative AI… Just know that it’s not generative AI. It’s just me, a dork who (a) likes to write, (b) enjoys using all the silly little grammatical tricks she knows, and (c) has access to a big thesaurus.
